For centuries the stronghold of the Christian kingdom that most actively battled the Moors, Asturias, a mountainous region along the coast of the Bay of Biscay, is located between Cantabria to the East and Galicia to the West. It proudly preserves its ancient claim to the ASTURIASTITLE designating it a principality. The people there speak a dialect called Asturiano.
