| I am surprised to be the one to announce here that the Vittoria District will cease to be come September 2009. It will be replaced by the Spain Vittoria STAKE! As the leaders there have asked the Priesthood and others there to raise their spirituality - we should pray for those folks there. Especially those traveling to and from Madrid now for training. | |||

| Just wanted to let you all know that after three boys we finally managed to have a daughter! Of course we love them all the same ... but to have a little baby girl in the house is proving to be even more special than I realized it would be. Her name is "Debora Leticia Ferraz-Leite". We call her by her second name, Leticia. | Hello Everyone, I just wanted to let everyone know that I found out on Easter Sunday that my wife is pregnant. The due date is around 10 DEC 07. We are all doing well. I have been here in Germany now for 2 years. Before Germany, I was in Korea for 1 year. This August will make 10 years that I have been in the Army. Things here are going great. One of these years I am going to make it to one of the reunions, but not this year. I have so many memories of my mission. Especially in La Coruna and Vigo. I hope everyone had a great Easter. | This message was forwarded to me from President Sherwood: My name is Rebbi Burdett. I live here in the Salt Lake Valley and I was wondering if I could as for your help. This is kind of a odd request, but I didn't know how to get a hold of people who have served a mission in Bilao, Spain. My husband and I are planning to bike the Camino de Santiago and we are looking for someone to be our bike support. We thought you or someone from that mission may be interested in returning to your mission to visit. We would provide airfare to and from Spain and we are willing to negotiate on further expenses. We would require someone with driving capabilities to transport luggage from one hotel to the next and carry a cell phone in case we had and emergency on the trail. Other than that the time would be theirs to do with what they like. Would you please send this to anyone you think may be interested. I would have posted it on your mission's official web site, but having not served a mission myself I was not able to do that. | 1990-1994 Mission Reunion Plans Finalized | |||
| We have finally finalized our reunion plans. We have also found Hermana Adams and the Millers. They, along with the Sherwoods, will all be attending the reunion. Hermana Adams will be here from California and is very excited to see everyone! The reunion will be held in Layton at Chapel Park (900 E 100 S in Layton) from 5:00pm-9:00pm. We have the bowery rented there. Please bring a picnic for your family and a salad or dessert to share. BBQ's are available, but you need to bring your own charcoal and utensils. If you use a bbq, you are also responsible for cleaning it after. There is a park area for your kids, a basketball and volleyball court, and baseball diamond (if available). Bring equipment if you want to play any sports. | Hace mucho que no escribo. Tuve una oportunidad maravillosa el mes pasado y este. Un hombre joven, de 23 anos empezo trabajar en la misma ciudad que vivo yo en Enero. El es de Mexico. Comenzo a pasar por la Iglesia regularmente. Le pedi que escuchara a los misioneros y estuvo de acuerdo. No habia misionero que quedaba cerca de nosotros que sabia hablar espanol y entonces hicimos las charlas en mi casa y traduje para los misioneros. Pues el se bautizo el fin de semana pasado. | No no!! Valladolid is not closing! I tell you what happens or hwat has happened. As you should know, Valladolid is since 2001 part of the Madrid mission. Last year they decided to split the branch into 2 branches becuase it seemed Valladolid to be growing. But this year they have decided to put the 2 branches together again because the split did not work out well. So yes, they have closed one of the branches, but the main one is still there. THat?s it! | My family and I went to the Festival of Trees in Utah last month and I came across one tree that took me quite by surprise. This tree was dedicated to Nate Demars and his wife. I did some research to confirm and found the following obituary. Obituary: Nathanael Kent Demars & Alicia Ann Kitchin Demars "Together Forever" Nathanael Kent Demars and Alicia Ann Kitchin Demars returned to their heavenly home together on February 28, 2004, leaving behind their two daughters, Kenzie Ashton, 4 months and Camrynn Christine, 3-1/2 years. Nathanael was born March 13, 1977 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kent and Betty Demars. He was a member of the LDS Church and served a mission to Spain. He loved bicycling and just about anything that included the outdoors, and was a great athlete. He loved life and filled his short time here with all the adventure he could find, ending with the most wonderful adventure of all - marriage and parenthood. Nate was a happy, loving husband, devoted father, son, brother and friend to many. His greatest joys in life were his wife and children and considers that his life truly began when he married his soul mate, Alicia, 17 months ago. In addition to his children, he is survived by his parents five brothers and sisters: Chris, Angie, Jaclyn, Jordan and Adam Demars, as well as close personal friends, who will remember always the gentle ways and sweet spirit of this soft spoken man. Alicia was born December 6, 1980 in Fullerton, California to Donald T. and Sherry L. Kitchin. She was a member of the LDS Church, a loving wife, a devoted mother, daughter, sister and friend, who wanted nothing more out of life than to be the best mom and wife in the world. She was funny, witty and full of life all the time. She loved scrap booking, bargain shopping and music - and could sing like an angel. She is survived by her parents, grandparents, six brothers and sisters: Sean Kitchin, Stanni Kitchin, Kristine Jones, David White, Traci Goddard and Chad Kitchin, plus 16 nieces and nephews and a multitude of close personal friends, who will profoundly miss her sensitivity, fun loving nature and beautiful smile! Nate and Alicia - You touched this world deeply and left sweet memories for all of us to cherish forever... memories that we will pass on to your beautiful daughters. We love you both! End Obituary Nate Demars was my last companion in the mission and he made life easy on me. I decided I would share my memories by sending my mission pictures and all the stories I can remember about Demars to the family. | I am not sure how to express the sorrow I feel concerning the passing of Elder Colton. Although it occured some time ago, I recently became aware of his death. Elder Colton and I served in San Sebastian. It was so easy to like him. He obeyed the rules, worked hard, and had an awesome sense of humor. He and I had some very testimony building experiences together as we had the privelege of teaching and baptizing there. It was with Kip, in San Sebastian that my testimony of the Priesthood grew exponentialy. Valladolid 1, y la otra ser? para los que viven los pueblos (Tudela de Duero, Traspinedo y Viana de Cega... Es que ahora hay un mont?n de familias from Uruguay en Tudela de Duero). | Recibi este mensaje hoy. I'm a Spain Mission RM. If possible, could you please get the word out on this immediately? Have you heard about the candlelight vigil? From what I understand, the honorary consul of Spain in Utah has organized a candlelight vigil at the Utah Capitol building tomorrow night, in support for the victims of the terrorist attack on cercanias in Madrid and I suppose against terrorism in general. In Spain after the whole wake of 9-11, people really went out of their way to show their support for us. I hope this is a little bit of the same. This is a unique opportunity to show your support for the people of Spain. Utah Governor Olene Walker will be there, so I assume the media will be there too. | It has been a while since I have been here. So much has happened. For those who do not know, I have been married for 9 1/2 months. I was sealed on November 10, 2000 in the Raliegh Temple. I just made my 4th yr. in the Army. Right now I am stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. in the 82D Airborne Division. I just reenlisted on the 20th for 4 more yrs. I will be going to Fort Eustis, VA. | Blood Donation Restrictions: effective October 15 | |||
| IMPORTANT: Due to spread of the human form of Mad Cow disease, the American Red Cross is imposing an extended donor restriction that WILL EFFECT ALL EUROPEAN MISSION ALUMNI. (I received an official notice in the mail last Saturday.) Now anyone who has lived in ANY European country for a cumulative of 6 months or more since 1980 will not be able to donate blood. The restriction will stand until an adequate test for the disease is discovered. This was supposed to take effect on September 17th, but due to the recent tragedy THIS RESTRICTION WILL NOT BE IMPOSED UNTIL OCTOBER 15th. At the same time we've all seen ads from the Red Cross calling for more donors. There was already a shortage of blood before last week. Since blood expires in 42 days, even the recent outpour will not keep supplies up for long. The Red Cross estimates losing 400,000 donors with the new extended restrictions. Many returned missionaries will be among them. Those of you who can, PLEASE make an effort to donate while it's still possible. The Red Cross only hopes to find a satisfactory test to remove this restriction-right now the best estimate is at least two years. Please spread the word and contact your local Red Cross for more details. | |||

| Well I figure that it is about time to do another family update. S. Matthew Jr. turned one on June 21, and Bryn turned 4 on July 5. Monica has changed schools and subjects. She is now closer to home and teaching math. She is very excited!! I am finishing up my Pc Technician and Network Manager Programs at the local tech school. | Hello again, I think a Sherwood reunion would be great. I think it would be better if we had it in the Summer. More people would be able to be there. Most everyone is not in school and it''s easier for me to take leave in the Summer. Oct. and Nov. are not good times for me. Also, I can be reached at the email address listed. I don''t think Pres. Sherwood liked my hotmail email address. Anyway, I am great and the Army is fine. I just made my 3 year mark last week. Only 2 more to go, but if they send me overseas like to Italy I will reenlist. | Hi Everyone, I just want to say that this site is awesome. I havw been able to find a few friends from the mission. I know there are many of you out there who know me or at least heard of me. I was trained by Elder Turley(Ryan). Things here at Ft. Bragg, NC. are fine. I just got back from New Orleans. I was on leave for 20 days and I had a great time.
